Poshboard V1 Beta 1 Available ! E-mail
2 really good news for me today : First, I just joined NELITE, a young but very skilled Microsoft Gold Partner company as an Infrastructure developper and IT consultant. Second, I just finished Poshboard V1 Beta 1 ! It's a real pleasure for me to deliver this new version to you. There are a lot of new functionnalities in this release, let me presents them to you.

Silverlight GUI Widget Designer

I presented you the Widget Tester in previous technical preview, Poshboard V1 Beta 1 introduce the GUI Widget Designer. This new widget let Poshboard becomes the first product that let you design Silverlight interface with PowerShell code !
With the Poshboard snapin, you can build really easely Silverlight GUI, even with events support (like click on buttons). You can build from PowerShell many types of controls  (combobox, textbox, Visifire charts, datagrids....)

This new widget also propose an intellisense support (just hit tab to make it appears, select the cmdlet and hit the right arrow). You can then use the code to put it in a "GUI Widget" and share it to everyone. GUI Widget designer rely on WCF to offers real-time editing, you can see the result as you type your code.

Widgets live update

Every widgets let you activate "live" update of scripts : WCF Push script output directly to clients for FAST update. Your update mode selection (either snapshot or live update) is saved: when you return, your widgets are updated, with direct live mode or snapshot.

FullScreen mode

 

Every widgets let you go fullscreen. You can see for example chart on live update mode.

New DataGrid content support

The DataGrid widged has been updated. You can now put strings, but also Boolean values, dates or images.

Poshboard Snapin : Silverlight GUI cmdlets


From now on, every Poshboard related commands (charts building, dagagrid, Silverlight controls) are real cmdlets. This snapin let you easely build and debug widgets. You don't need to use GUI or Poshboard to design your widgets : you can use a classic PowerShell console.
